Observing Geniuses

One of the most fascinating opportunities we have today is the ability to observe the smartest people in the world. Imagine yourself in the year 1905, when Albert Einstein published his paper on special relativity. You could have read it, but you’d never hear himself discuss his ideas, or see him in action. Few people of course did have the chance to listen to him. He gave a lot of public lecture throughout his career. But you had to have a luck or be a very smart scientist in Princeton.

Fast-forward to today, and we have the Internet, which allows pretty much anyone to not only read the works of geniuses but also watch them think, debate, and create in real-time. Imagine Einstein streaming on Twitch, while working on general relativity?!? Or having a debate with Robert Oppenheimer?? How cool would that be?

Internet is old technology, nevertheless I feel like most people still do not understand how to use it. Everyone is used to the Algorithm which feeds us with infinite short form content that is designed to absolutely destroy our dopamine receptors. Most people know this, but they don’t care? Or do they know it?

I really love watching Geohot. He usually does long coding streams. It’s really fascinating watch him think and write code. It’s like watching Iron Man building his new suit.

Sometimes he does talking streams, which I like the most. He usually talks about politics, economics, books and pretty much everything in general. I really recommend watching at least few of his streams and thinking about his ideas. I think he is one of the most underrated intellectuals of our time.

The point is to find someone much smarter then you and just observe him. Instead of watching stupid Netflix serials/films. Why just observe? You can ask him questions and hear his honest opinion. Let’s use this opportunity and learn from the best.
